In her own words
Why I'm running
I am a fourth-generation Carlsbad resident. My family has lived, worked, and raised children in this community for generations, and I have watched our schools shape the lives of the people I love most.
I have been a Carlsbad Unified parent since 2004. Over more than two decades I have sat through countless drop-offs and pick-ups, back-to-school nights, parent conferences, and board meetings. I have celebrated great teachers and I have asked hard questions when something was not working.
That long view is why I am running. Carlsbad Unified is a strong district with dedicated teachers and staff, and it should stay that way. But strength is not automatic. It requires clear expectations, honest measurement, and a board that treats parents as partners instead of an audience.
I am not running to score points or to fight over things that have nothing to do with learning. I am running because I believe the basics matter: students who can read, write, and reason; campuses that are safe and orderly; budgets and decisions that families can actually see and understand.
As a graduate of UC San Diego and a longtime community volunteer, I have spent years working alongside neighbors on projects that made Carlsbad better. I want to bring that same practical, unglamorous, get-it-done approach to the board table.
Trustee Area 1 deserves a representative who answers the phone, reads the whole agenda packet, and tells you the truth about what the district can and cannot do. That is the job I am asking for.
